NEWS CENTER - Speaking at the Newroz in Erxenî, DTK Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk reminded that Turkey massacred 9 people, including 7 children from the same family in Kobani and said, “There is a process here, you are sabotaging it.”
Newroz celebrations were held in the Erxenî (Ergani) and Hezo (Kozluk) districts of Amed (Diyarbakır) and Êlih (Batman), respectively. During the celebrations, Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's call was pointed to and the government was asked to take steps.

Newroz was celebrated at the Old Bus Station Square in Erxenî district of Amed. Hundreds of people participated in the celebration and danced halay. Women participated in the celebration with yellow, green and red cheesecloths while young people participated with face paint. Speaking at the celebration, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Berdan Öztürk stated that we are going through a historical process. Pointing to the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Öztürk said that this was a great opportunity for the Middle East, Turkey and the world. Stating that Turkey and the Middle East need an honorable peace and a democratic republic, Öztürk said, “This is a historical opportunity.”
Berdan Öztürk reminded that 9 people, including 7 children from the same family, were killed in Turkey's drone attack on Kobani last night, “There is a process here, you are sabotaging it," said Öztürk and added, "Whoever is responsible for this massacre must be held accountable. Historical resistance was given there against ISIS gangs. One of them was Kobani."
After the speeches, the Newroz fire was lit. The celebration ended with a halay accompanied by the songs sung by the artist Hozan Servan.

The celebration in Êlih was attended by citizens wearing national costumes and green, yellow and red cheeseclothes. The celebration was dominated by young people and women, who enthusiastically danced for a long time.
DEM Party MP Zeynep Oduncu stated that the Kurdish people have been working for a dignified life for a century and said, "We are calling for unity. Mr Abdullah Öcalan says, 'We want freedom, we don't want war.' The way to a solution has been opened, we are raising the voice of freedom everywhere for a solution."
Pointing out that the state continues to attack, Zeynep Oduncu said, “Stop this war, let there be no massacres, let there be peace and unity in 4 parts of Kurdistan and Turkey. We want freedom. That's why everyone should listen to the voice coming from İmralı.”
After the speeches, the Newroz fire was lit with dances. The celebration ended with halay.
