ANKARA - The 5th member of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party's Commission on National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy has been elected as Istanbul MP Celal Firat. 

 

Spokesperson of the DEM Party Aysegul Dogan announced the name of the bnew member of the Commission. DEM Party's name for the commission is DEM Party Istanbul MP Celal Firat. 

 

WHAT HAPPENED?

 

The commission, which was established on 5 August within the scope of the Peace and Democratic Society Process, convened with 48 people since the IYI Party did not participate in the commission. DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gulistan Kilic Kocyigit informed the other parties that it was not right to make decisions based on the vacant seats and asked for new members to be appointed for the vacant seats. After negotiations with the Speaker of the Assembly Numan Kurtulmus and other political party coordinators, it was decided to appoint three more members. The parties decided to give one member each to AKP, CHP and DEM Party.
