ERZİROM - Ahmet Sayak, brother of writer Bager Sayak, who is arrested in Sincan Prison No. 1, stated that the prisoners have no security of life and called for action to human rights defenders and political parties.
Bager Sayak, who was arrested on July 20, 2010 for allegedly "leaving a bomb in front of the AKP provincial headquarters building" in Erzirom(Erzurum) and was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment by increasing his age, has been held in a solitary cell for years. Stating that they are concerned about the health condition of writer Sayak, who is currently held in Sincan High Security Prison No. 1, his brother Ahmet Sayak said that his brother was subjected to many rights violations during his detention.
Stating that his brother was given arbitrary disciplinary punishments and that his activities were also prevented, Sayak says: “The food is unhealthy and often concrete pieces come out of the food. There is a serious pressure and communication problem. The books we sent are not given back, Kurdish books are not even allowed into the prison. In general, the living conditions are restricted. The prisoners have no security of life. If something happens to the prisoners, it is the prison administration that is responsible.”
SIT-IN DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF THE PARLIAMENT
Saying that we should not remain silent in this situation, Sayak said: "We have written to the Ministry of Justice many times, but we have not received any response. We, as a family, are very worried. When we met with the prison warden, they did nothing even though they said they would solve the problems. This is our call to MPs, human rights defenders and lawyers; Let them express these problems and do whatever they can at the legal level. If their voices are not heard and if a solution is not found to these rights violations, we, as families, will hold a sit-in protest in front of the Parliament."
