ISTANBUL - A lawsuit has been filed against 6 journalists protesting the arrest of Free Press employees.
Journalists who met in Kadıköy on April 29 to protest the detention and arrest of Free Press employees within the scope of Amed and Ankara-based investigations were beaten and detained. Lawsuits have been filed against ETHA editor Pınar Gayip, Evrensel newspaper reporter Eylem Nazlıer, and journalists Esra Soybir, Zeynep Kuray, Serpil Ünal and Yadigar Aygün, who were released after being detained.
FIRST HEARING IS ON WORKING JOURNALISTS' DAY
Journalists are charged with "not dispersing spontaneously despite a warning by participating in illegal meetings and marches unarmed". The first hearing against journalists will be held at the Anadolu 22nd Criminal Court of First Instance on January 10, Working Journalists' Day.
