DİYARBAKIR- Speaking at the Lausanne workshop held in Amed, Çağlar Demirel said: “Women have never stopped against assimilation and massacres in this century. This resistance and struggle will continue."

Tevgera Jinên Azad (Free Women's Movement-TJA) started a workshop titled “Women are discussing Lausanne in its centennial year” in a hotel in Amed(Diyarbakır), on the occasion of the centennial of the Treaty of Lausanne, which divided the geography of Kurdistan into 4 parts. Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) MPs, Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) Co-Chair Kadriye Doğan, women co-mayors who were replaced by trustees, journalists and many women from different non-governmental organizations attended the workshop.

ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED AT THE WORKSHOP

Politician Çağlar Demirel made the opening speech of the workshop. Touching on the topics to be discussed at the workshop, Demirel said: "We would discuss how the decisions taken in Lausanne were implemented within the century. We will discuss what kind of decisions were made regarding beliefs and peoples such as Kurds, Alevis, Syriacs, Armenians and Ezidis. Until now, these discussions have been carried out by men. We will discuss how it was denied and assimilated. We women have worked hard and suffered greatly in Mesopotamia. We will discuss what we will do after this century. This discussion is also very important for us. Women did not accept the genocide in this century, and we will get information about what our peoples, Assyrians, Chaldeans and Armenians are going through here. We will talk about the unity of peoples, we will make decisions together. Men may not be able to achieve unity, but we as TJA established the unity of the peoples and we will continue this unity by making big decisions from now on."

'WE WILL FIGHT TOGETHER'

Stating that they do not accept the genocide of women and peoples, Demirel said: "This is why we will put up a great struggle. Women have not stopped in this century against assimilation and massacres. They have shown constant resistance and struggle. This struggle and resistance will continue. The decisions taken in Lausanne have been going on for 100 years. Their aim is extermination of peoples and exile. These have been done. We will not accept these from now on, we will ensure freedom and peace together with the peoples. Kurds everywhere, from four parts of Kurdistan to Europe, are discussing Lausanne and how we will respond in the next century.

Demirel also stated that they will share the results of the workshop with the public afterward.

The workshop continues closed to the press after the opening speech.
