ISTANBUL - Stating that the public meetings held within the scope of the new restructuring process are promising, HDP PM member Cengiz Topbaşlı said: We are the center of the Third Way politics and that we will continue our work with thematic meetings."
The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) started their public meetings, the second leg of the restructuring process, after their provincial and district meetings. In this context, meetings took place in many districts of Istanbul, in houses and in different associations. The members of the parties, who report the criticisms and suggestions that emerged in the meetings, also give self-criticism.
HDP Party Council (PM) member Cengiz Topbaşlı, who evaluated the works carried out on the restructuring process in Istanbul, stated that the meetings were promising and that these studies would continue with thematic meetings.
Expressing that they experienced an election process with high expectations, Topbaşlı said: "The election took place under unequal conditions and in a climate of pressure against the social and political opposition. The meetings are important for the restructuring and for the deficiencies not to be experienced again. This process is promising. Referring to the words of Ernesto Che Guevara, one of the pioneers of the Cuban socialist revolution, "You are defeated not when you lose, but when you give up", Topbaşlı said: "Our organization is alive. We have a failure, and we have shared the reasons many times with our people and our organization; however, we can never give up because we do not come from traditions with a renewed understanding; therefore, it is a choice, not getting the results we did not expect is a failure, but not a defeat.
THE STRONGER STRUGGLE
Noting that they had discussions with the public in the second phase of the restructuring process, Topbaşlı said: "By restructuring the organization to meet the upcoming process, we will continue to fight as a stronger, more alive structure that has a very close bond with its people in the struggle arena."
THEMATIC MEETINGS
Noting that they will hold thematic meetings aiming to reach different segments in addition to public meetings, Topbaşlı said: We will also meet with peoples and beliefs, workers, youth and women on this basis. Did the HDP has an economic policy, could they hear it in this election, from now on, we will seek answers to the questions of what kind of policy the HDP should follow for the workers. Is the youth policy of HDP and Green Left Party with the youth really a policy that can touch the youth, reach them and meet their needs? Therefore, we will continue with women, one of the most important forces and principles of the struggle, with women-intensive public meetings together with the original plans of our Women's Council. Then we will meet with peoples and belief groups that express certain living areas and social segments. We will talk to architects, engineers, intellectuals, academics, and perhaps the press, with people who have been in life as a whole and have witnessed these issues closely. We will ask whether our party programs in their current form meet their needs.”
