RIHA - Citizens who started a vigil on the Pîrsus-Kobanê border against the attacks of Turkey and the affiliated SNA against North and East Syria said: "We will defend Kobanê with the same spirit as we defended it against the ISIS attack in 2014."
Following the vigil started on the Nisêbin (Nusaybin)-Qamishlo border against the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) against North and East Syria, a vigil was also started on the Pîrsus-Kobanê border yesterday. Participants in the vigil, which continued on its second day, expressed their reactions against the attacks. Mehmet Kankılıç, participant of the vigil, said: "Kobanê means us. Those on the other side of the border are our relatives. We came to show our solidarity with them. We are here. The border did not separate us. In 2014, I was living in Europe during the Kobanê serhildan (resistance). We are ready to bring out that spirit again. Defending Kobanê is defending ourselves. We are waiting for everyone here."
'KOBANÊ WILL NOT FALL'
Musa Mermer pointed out that various identities live together in North and East Syria, "Kobanê has not been left alone before and it will not be left alone again. It did not fall in 2014 and it will never fall. They should know this well. The day is the day to protect Kobanê. We will resist until the end. There is an unnatural wall between us and Kobanê. The people living there are all our brothers and sisters. They cannot get results with attacks. Even though they say ISIS is not attacking now, ISIS is attacking. Everyone must mobilise against this. We will defend it as we defended it in 2014," he said.
'ABDULLAH ÖCALAN MUST BE FREE'
Peace Mother Makbule Yavuzer, who took her place at the vigil, stated that they are on "peace watch" and said: "We are here for peace. We want there to be no war. We are here for no one to die. Wars must end. The blood must stop. Kobanê-Pîrsus is one. Qamishlo-Nisêbîn is one. Borders cannot separate us. We want an end to the war and an honourable peace. In this regard, There must be meeting with Mr Abdullah Öcalan as soon as possible and he should regain his freedom."
'HALF OF PÎRSUS IS KOBANÊ'
Kurds have always been in favour of peace said Naime Bayram and added: "We want there to be no war. We say 'Mothers should not cry'. The reason we came here is that we are against war. We will say 'Peace' until the end. Kurdistan was divided into four parts. Half of Pîrsus is Kobanê. We do not want to have borders."
'ROJAVA REVOLUTION IS WOMEN'S REVOLUTION'
Stating that the revolution in Rojava is a women's revolution, "We do not want Kobanê to be occupied. We are in solidarity with the people of Kobanê until the end. We are one. No one can separate us. Half of our family is there. We are connected to each other. Kobanê has resisted before and will resist again; but we do not want war. We will defend Kobanê until the end," Sara Şahin said.
'THE WORLD SAW HOW KONBANÊ FOUGHT'
Stressed that Kobanê has a historical importance due to its resistance against ISIS attacks, Bahri Yıldırım said: "All the peoples of the world saw how Kobanê fought against ISIS. ISIS attacked in a barbaric way, but Kobanê did not fall. There are threats again now. We condemn those who want to occupy Kobanê. We will protect Kobanê until the end."
HIS SON WENT TO KOBANÊ AGAINST ISIS 10 YEARS AGO
Explaining that her son went to Kobanê against the ISIS attack in 2014, Peace Mother Aynur Yılmaz stated the following: "There were attacks in 2014. All young people turned towards Kobanê and the attacks were broken. My son also went. My son told me, 'They are beheading people, I will go there against this.' 10 years have passed, we do not know whether my son is alive or not. There are many young people like my son. They are there for humanity. My call; No mother should suffer anymore. We need to say 'Stop' to the war. Everyone has the right to live in their own language."
