Êlih (Batman) Co-Mayors Gülistan Sönük and Yeşil Işık, who were dismissed by the Ministry of Interior and replaced by trustees, and municipality council members were prevented from entering the municipality by the police. The co-mayors and municipality council members were stopped 100 metres from the municipality building and then blockaded by the police.

 

While the blockade was reacted with slogans such as "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" and "Bijî berxwedana Batmanê (Long live resistance of Batman)", DEM Party Êlih Provincial Co-Chair Mustafa Mesut Tekik said: "We see the trustees as an attack on the will of the people. We do not accept this. Our struggle will continue until our friends are reinstated."

 

Co-mayors and council members continue to resist the blockade.
