Şahismail Göyük, the headman of Burmadere village in Sors (Demal) district of Erdexan, was dismissed and a trustee was appointed in his place. In the statement made by the Damal Federation of Associations on the subject, "Our Burmadere (Sors) village headman Şahismail Güyük, who was detained as a result of a denunciation for sharing 68 revolutionary leaders on social media in the past weeks, was temporarily dismissed from his duty on 26/11/2024. A trustee was appointed in his place."

 

The dismissed mukhtar Şahismail Göyük stated in a TV interview that there are 28 Alevi villages in Erdexan and that they were called to Ardahan Governorate about a month and a half after they were elected.

 

Göyük said that when they were told that they would be affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, he reacted by saying, "We are not a dance troupe, we are a faith community". Göyük said at the meeting that Alevis wanted to be equal citizens and said: "No mukhtar supported me. 2 months later, anti-terror police took me. They removed my Facebook page. They detained me because I had commemorated the 68 generation."

 

Göyük stated that he was referred to the court with the demand of arrest after the statement procedures and said: "In my defence, they are judging me because I am an Alevi. I have never been in a police station until today. I am a leftist. I have only one offence, I am not being tried for being a leftist and socialist, I am being tried for being an Alevi. They did not include this in my statement."  Göyük was released with the condition of "judicial control" after his statement in court.

 

MHP TRUSTEE FOR ALEVI VILLAGE

 

Two days ago, the mukhtar's seal and documents were requested from Göyük and Yasin Zorlu, the District Special Administration Director, was appointed as the trustee. It is learnt that Zorlu, who was appointed in Göyük's place, is a member of Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
