RIHA - In the village of Barkh Botan in Kobani, which lost 23 lives 10 years ago in ISIS attacks, 9 people were killed in a Turkish drone attack 10 years later.

Barkh Botan village, which was attacked by ISIS after the defat of Kobani, was targeted by Turkey's drone 10 years later. While ISIS killed 23 people in the village 10 years ago, 9 people from the same family, including parents and children, were killed and 2 children were wounded in the drone attack.

In the village, 27 kilometres south-west of Kobani, 120 families live on agriculture and animal husbandry. The village became one of the most targeted places for attacks in 2014 with the mobilisation of ISIS in the region. ISIS invaded Mosul in Iraq in 2014, and on 15 September 2014, with the support of Turkey and many countries in the region, ISIS attacked the Kobani region.

ISIS occupied 350 villages in the city, including the village of Barkh Botan, and moved to occupy the city center of Kobani.

The resistance of YPG-YPJ fighters against ISIS resonated all over the world. The city center was cleared from ISIS on 26 January 2015 with the resistance that turned everyone's attention to Kobani.

This victory marked the beginning of the end for ISIS and its supporters, especially with the liberation of Kobani city center and its villages.

BARKH BOTAN MASSACRE

YPG-YPJ forces, who liberated Kobani city and villages from ISIS, continued their operations against ISIS in Manbij. Meanwhile, ISIS did not digest the defeat and attacked Kobani center once again on 25 June 2015 with the most brutal methods.

ISIS first targeted the village of Barkh Botan and massacred 23 people in the village. Massacres also took place in Zerik and Gire Seve villages of Kobani.

ISIS militants, who entered the city center with the clothes of Kobani Internal Security Forces, massacred a total of 272 people and hundreds of people were wounded. With the intervention of YPG-YPJ forces, ISIS attackers were cleared from the city.

10 YEARS LATER, THIS TIME TURKEY

10 years later, this time Turkey attacked Barkh Botan village a few days before the Newroz Festival, on the night of 17 March at 00.40 am local time, Turkey's drone and heavy weapons attacked a family living between Barkh Botan and Qomichi villages.

As a result of the attack, 9 people from the same family, including parents and children, were killed and 2 children were wounded.
