ADANA - Tuba Sert, who is being held in Manavgat Type S Closed Prison, said that guards threatened prisoner Zilan Demir and subjected her to psychological violence.
Tuba Sert, who is being held in Antalya Manavgat Type S Closed Prison, told about the rights violations in the prison during an open meeting with her family on September 2. Sert said that the chief warden constantly put psychological pressure on prisoners and subjected them to insults and threats.
Sert stated that on August 28, after her weekly phone call with her family, woman guards told a prisoner named Zilan Demir: “Hurry up, run”. “Why should I run?” Demir asked, and then Demir was thrown into the ward by force and violence.
Sert said: “After this incident, the chief guard raided Zilan's ward with man guards. The guards with batons and handcuffs in their hands closed all the windows and battlements in the corridor and entered the ward. Here they insulted and threatened Zilan at all hours. As prisoners, we wanted to go to the warden in the face of this situation, but they did not allow us. We are subjected to serious violations of rights due to the practices of the chief warden and the warden. Some of the prisoners here are in single wards and some are in wards of 3. We will fight against oppression, torture and all kinds of rights violations and we will not give in. No matter what the outcome, we will not bow down.”
Sert's family stated that there are irrational practices in Antalya Manavgat Type S Closed Prison and that they fear for the lives of the prisoners.
