AGIRÎ - The release of ill prisoner Mehmet Kınat from Patnos Type L Closed Prison was postponed for 3 months on the grounds that he was not in "good behavior".
The release of Mehmet Kınat, an ill prisoner of 30 years in Patnos Type L Closed Prison, was postponed on the grounds that he was not in "good behavior" despite completing his sentence. Kınat, who was detained in Şirnex (Şırnak) in 1994, was sentenced to life imprisonment for "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state" by the State Security Court (DGM) after being detained for days.
After 30 years of imprisonment, Kınat completed his conditional release, but in a phone call with his family, he stated that his release was prevented for 3 months. Kınat stated that the Prison Administrative and Observation Board (İGK) prevented his release, claiming that he was not in "good behavior".
The family stated that Kınat suffers from diabetes, stomach, eye and lumbar hernia. Kınat was previously held in prisons in Amed (Diyarbakır), Şirnex, Giresun, Antep and Merdîn (Mardin).
