Temelli: Hate speeches appear as lynching attacks

ANKARA - Evaluating the agenda in the Parliament, DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli pointed out the racist attacks against refugees in Kayseri and Kurds in Muğla, and pointed out the policies of the government and the opposition and said: "These seeds of discrimination planted in society appear before us with lynching attacks against people."

People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli evaluated the current developments at the press conference he held in the Parliament.

Drawing attention to the racist attack against Syrians in Kayseri last night, Temelli reminded that houses and workplaces were burned. Stating that people's lives were attempted, Temelli said: “Of course, one can react to an incident, but the reaction here is an unacceptable racist uprising. We have experienced this many times in history. Once again, I condemn those who dare to do this. We know very well that the understanding behind this incident is actually a racist and fascist understanding. In particular, both the ruling and opposition parties have been constantly expressing racist discourse towards refugees for a long time. As a result, such injustices occur in society."

RESULT OF STATE POLICIES

Stating that there is a refugee problem in Turkey and that this problem is tried to be reflected as a result of the arrivals, but the real problem stems from the AKP-MHP's Kurdish issue and foreign policy approach, Temelli said: "The events taking place in Syria today are behind many cases in Iraq and the Middle East. We know very well that Turkey has a foreign policy that destabilizes the region. Therefore, the refugee problem was not created by refugees, but emerged as a result of the policies implemented by the Turkish state. If the refugee problem is to be solved, it will first be solved by the solution of the Kurdish issue by bringing peace to the Middle East. Aware of this, we have to develop ways to live in peace with refugees."

ATTACK ON KURDISH WORKERS IN MUĞLA

Referring to the racist attack against workers in Muğla, Temelli stated that there are many such attacks against Kurds and listed these attacks one by one. Temelli said: “It is a fact that this hate speech, these seeds of discrimination planted in this society appear before us with these lynching attacks against people. Of course, there is this reality behind all this. You know, the famous 'property collapse' story, so today we know very well that such incidents are provoked in order to collapse the fields and land owned by the Kurds. In the latest Muğla case, it is clearly obvious how 12 mukhtars staged these events."

IT IS ENLARGES TEACHERS' PROBLEMS

Pointing to the draft law that is planned to be introduced to the Parliament and will concern teachers, Temelli stated that this bill will not solve the problems of teachers, on the contrary, it will worsen them. Temelli said: “When we look back at the teaching profession, we are faced with a profession that is being discredited day by day, where the lack of solution regarding personnel rights continues, where the problem of teachers not being appointed is growing, and where the issue of equal pay for equal work has not been resolved at all. In a country where there are already 18 million students, we are talking about 13-14 million families, and more than 1 million teachers, it is not possible to solve the education problem without solving the basic problems of this profession.

MINIMUM WAGE

Temelli continued his speech as follows: “Türkİş announced the figures. According to Türkİş, the poverty line has reached 62 thousand liras. The hunger limit has exceeded 20 thousand liras. But the minimum wage is 17 thousand liras. The Minister said that the minimum wage is high. This is nothing more than making fun of minimum wage earners, wage earners and retirees. Today, we express that this mentality, which sees 17 thousand lira as high, should resign immediately. Because 60 percent of employees receive minimum wage. Therefore, if you say 'the minimum wage is high in the country' while 60 percent of the employees live on the minimum wage, you cannot be the minister of treasury and finance of this country.”
