BINGOL- Freedom Marchers, who have been on the roads for 9 days for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue, commemorated Ceylan Onkol at her grave.

Politicians and democratic mass organization representatives and marchers who set out from QERS for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue commemorated Ceylan Onkol, who was killed by a mortar bullet while grazing her animals on September 28, 2009, at the grave of Xanbaz (Hambaz) hamlet in Amed's Licê district. Onkol's mother, Saliha Onkol, and the village people attended the commemoration held at the graveside in Dolek village of Çêwlig's (Bingöl) Dara Hênê (Genç) district. Speaking after the prayers at the grave, DEM Party Deputy Vezir Coşkun Parlak said: “Many people have been brutally murdered since the 1990s due to security policies in Kurdistan. A dirty war was waged against democratic demands. Many of our families migrated to metropolises. Those most negatively affected by the war were women and children. Children in Kurdistan were subjected to assimilation policies and were murdered with bombs."

'OUR MARCH IS FOR CHILDREN'

Commemorating the children murdered by armored vehicles and soldiers and police bullets in Kurdistan, Parlak said: “The massacres are unacceptable. Our children cannot live freely in their own land. The purpose of our march today is for our children to live freely in their own land. We demand that our children be educated in their native language. Security policies continue against our democratic demands. The isolation is deepened day by day. The whole society, in the person of Mr. Ocalan, is under isolation. Another aim of our march is to break this isolation and ensure Mr. Ocalan's physical freedom. If we do this, children can live freely on their own land."

'THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CEYLANS IN KURDISTAN'

Stating that the crimes committed by soldiers, village guards and police in Kurdistan are rewarded with the policy of impunity, Parlak said: “We will expand our fight against this. We will do our best to punish everyone who commits a crime. We will keep every child we lost alive in our struggle. A Ceylan was murdered, today there are thousands of Ceylans in Kurdistan. In every house, a child's name is Ceylan. We will not forget this massacre and we will hold them accountable. This march will continue until Mr. Ocalan is free. Mothers now want peace. Mothers are hurt the most. The Kurdish issue must be resolved through democratic ways as soon as possible."
