BINGOL - DEM Party deputy Gulistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, one of the marchers who continued the "Great Freedom March" in Çewlîg, said: "If you really want democracy, you will open the doors of Imralı."
Politicians and representatives of democratic mass organizations, who set out from Qers (Kars) for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue, continued their march in Çewlîg (Bingöl). Many people welcomed the marchers at the entrance of the city. During the welcoming reception where enthusiasm prevailed, the slogan "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live resistance of dungeons)" was frequently chanted. The marchers then walked to the city center and made a statement there.
'OPEN IMRALI DOORS FOR DEMOCRACY'
DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gulistan Kılıç Koçyiğit pointed out that the history and language of the Kurds are denied and said: "This monist understanding has continued for 100 years. We are marching against this monist understanding."
Emphasizing that a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue must be achieved in order to create conditions for living together, Koçyiğit said: "The Kurdish issue can be solved by negotiating with Mr. Ocalan. By closing the gates of Imralı, they eliminated the will to live together. By closing the gates of Imralı, they opened the doors of security and oppression. We are walking to pave the way for peace.”
Koçyiğit continued as follows: "We cannot hear from Ocalan, we do not know his health conditions. We support the will for peace that is being stifled. If you really want democracy, you will open the doors of Imralı. If you want peace, you will have to provide the physical freedom of Mr. Ocalan."
The Çewlîg program ended after the halays.
