RIHA - Stating that the government in Turkey targets Northern and Eastern Syria whenever it is in trouble, journalist Lezgin İbrahim said: "The aim is to cause migration. But the people responded to the attacks with resistance. This is the message given by the people under attack in the squares."
Turkey once again targeted the cities of Northern and Eastern Syria following the increase in troop losses in the conflicts in the Federated Kurdistan Region. In the attacks that have been continuing since December 25, many places such as hospitals, cotton warehouses, oxygen factories, olive and feed factories, printing houses, petrol stations and sewing centers have been targeted. So far, 8 people have died and 13 people have been injured due to the attacks. Journalist Lezgin İbrahim, who follows the developments closely, evaluated the events to the Mezopotamya Agency.
'TURKIYE WANTS TO IMMIGRATE PEOPLE'
Drawing attention that Turkey's attacks are not new, Ibrahim described what happened as "a policy of genocide against the people of the region." Stating that Turkey has recently targeted the infrastructure of the region, İbrahim said: "Turkey once again targeted the infrastructure of the region, the institutions and settlements belonging to the civilian population. Since Turkey cannot attack from land, it aims to weaken the Autonomous Administration by bombing from the air. By bombing the infrastructure and areas used by the public. Turkiye wants to emigrate people."
HOSPITALS WERE BOMBED
Stating that Turkey targeted hospitals in Qamishlo and Kobanê, İbrahim said: "One of the hospitals bombed in Qamishlo was built for corona disease. The other was a newly built dialysis center. Likewise, a hospital in Kobanê that provided free healthcare to the public was targeted. The USA and Russia are in the region for their own interests. There are serious contradictions between them. Turkey takes advantage of this and continues its attacks. International states also remain silent against these inhumane attacks of Turkey for their own interests."
'TURKIYE IS IN TROUBLE '
Stating that Turkey targets Northern and Eastern Syria with every defeat it suffers in the war in the Federated Kurdistan Region, Ibrahim said: "Turkey is in trouble. Turkey has suffered major blows; that's why, it targeted Rojava. Clearly, the Turkish state seems to be a weakness; that's why, it's attacking. Kurds, Turkmens, Arabs, Assyrians and the people living here responded to Turkey by coming to the areas against the attacks. The people responded with resistance to the attacks of Turkey, which wanted to emigrate them. The people are no longer afraid of Turkey's attacks. Fear has collapsed. Where the fear has collapsed, the people look for a solution not in migration but in resistance. This was the message given by the people in the squares in the cities that were under attack."
'TURKIYE GETS STRENGTH FROM SILENCE'
Noting that Turkey took strength from the silence of the international community and targeted places such as hospitals, Ibrahim said: "The Turkish government wanted Israel to be punished. It targeted civilian settlements and hospitals; however, its attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria surpassed Israel's attacks. Civilians are being targeted, the water that the people need is prevented from reaching the region. All of these are attacks against humanity. Human rights organizations must convey the inhumane attacks to the whole world; likewise, Turkey's attacks must be stopped by conducting strong diplomacy in the international arena. Turkey says, 'I am attacking military areas" But it is targeting civilians in front of the eyes of the whole world. The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria began to quickly build the infrastructure and hospitals targeted in the recent attacks. The Autonomous Administration was prepared for possible attacks."
