ANKARA - Elif Çetinbaş and Rihan Kavak Özbek, who are on IHD's list of ill prisoners, stated that they started a hunger strike and asked, "We demand the physical freedom of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan."
The hunger strike launched in prisons to demand physical freedom for PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, has entered its 22nd day.
Elif Çetinbaş and Rihan Kavak Özbek, politicians on the ill prisoners list of the Human Rights Association (İHD), who were in the third group that took over the protest in Ankara Sincan Women's Closed Prison, called for the ownership of the strike in their message.
'WE WILL SUCCEED'
In her message, Elif Çetinbaş said: "At a time when five women are brutally murdered a day, the economy has turned into a Leviathan in the hands of capital forces, nation-states have declared their own bankruptcy with their fascist-monist structure, and ecology's S.O.S bells are ringing, an 'ecological, democratic, women's libertarian society' must be built against all these crises. We will succeed with our common struggle. Everyone must fulfill their historical responsibility for Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. We attempted to illuminate this darkness and open the door to see sunny days with the hunger strike. But removing the doors and walls is only possible with the efforts of all of us."
'MR. ÖCALAN MUST BE RELEASED UNCONDITIONALLY'
Özbek stated the following in his message: “Right now, the whole world knows that; The key to the solution of the Kurdish issue and the peace of the people of Türkiye is Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. In fact, the peace of the Middle East is the 'Democratic Middle East', which is the paradigm of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. The isolation is a crime against humanity. The Kurdish people and everyone who says 'I am a democrat' should raise their voice against isolation. That's why everyone should hear and embrace the voices of those in prison. All political prisoners, especially Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, should be released unconditionally."
