ISTANBUL - As part of the campaign launched to ensure the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, a "Global Öcalan Books Reading Day" event and a march in Geneva will be held in 160 centers.
There has been no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 25 years, for 33 months. Various actions, events and campaigns are being organized all over the world to demand the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, who was handed over to Turkey in an international conspiracy, and the end of the isolation. In this context, an international campaign was launched on October 10 with the slogan "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue".
The start of the campaign launched by the friends of the Kurdish people was given with statements and marches held in 74 different centers around the world. The hunger strike action launched in Turkish prisons within the scope of the campaign has entered its 9th day.
'BOOKS DAY'S EVENT IN 160 CENTERS
In this context, reading days will be organized in 160 centers on December 10 under the name "Global Öcalan Books Day". The site called "Ocalanbooks.com", established in 2008, has translations of Abdullah Öcalan's books in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Flemish, Turkish, Tamil, Catalan, Swedish, Greek, Basque, Korean and Sorani languages.
FREEDOM MARCH ON DECEMBER 13
The sit-in protest initiated by the Geneva Democratic Kurdish Community Center (CDK) within the scope of the "Dem dema azadiyê(Time is the freedom time)" campaign in the Nations Square, where the United Nations (UN) office is located in Geneva, Switzerland, continues. As the protest demanding Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom enters its fourth year, a march will be held on December 13 as part of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign.
FREEDOM WATCH CONTINUES
The watch for Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan was started on June 25, 2012, in the square where the Council of Europe (EC), European Parliament (EP), European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) buildings are located in Strasbourg, France. The protest, which has been going on for 11 years and 7 days a week, continues with the participation of various groups.
THE CAMPAIGN WILL BE MOVED TO THE AP AGENDA
On the other hand, the 18th International European Union Turkey and Kurds Conference, organized by the European Union Turkey Civilian Commission (EUTCC), will be held in the European Parliament (EP) today. One of the topics of the conference will be the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign launched at the international level.
While protests continued within the scope of the campaign, Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom and a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue were demanded in these actions and events.
