NEWS CENTER - Protests were held in Northern and Eastern Syria, demanding an explanation about the situation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, following the Gemlik earthquake.
Following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter was the Gemlik Bay of the Marmara Sea, the people of Northern and Eastern Syria took to the streets to demand an explanation of the situation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
GIRKÊ LEGÊ
Citizens in Girkê Legê district, members of civil institutions, Martyrs' Families Council, Revolutionary Youth Movement and Young Women's Union held a march to learn about the situation of Abdullah Öcalan. In the march that started in Martyr Xebat Square, banners saying "Bê Serok jiyan nabe(There is no life without the leader of Abdullah Öcalan) " and "We want the lawyers to go to İmralı as soon as possible" were carried. During the protest, slogans such as "Bê Serok jiyan nabe" were shouted.
'WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL WE GET NEWS'
The march turned into a rally in the town centre. Speaking here, PYD Member İdris Mihemed said: “Leader Abdullah Öcalan represents our will and honor. The lack of news from the leadership caused us concern, especially after the earthquake. Mihemed called on international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities, visit İmralı prison and explain the situation of Abdullah Öcalan. We will not stop in any way, we will be in the areas until we hear from the Leader. Leader Abdullah Öcalan represents the people who want freedom."
The action ended with the slogans "Bê Serok jiyan nabe".
QAMIŞLO
Hundreds of citizens from Qamişlo's Dêrik district and Koçerat region drew attention to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan with a march. The march, where slogans such as "Bê Serok jiyan nabe" and "Bijî Serok Apo(Long live leader Abdullah Öcalan)" were shouted, turned into a rally in the public square. Speaking here, PYD Dêrik executive Binefş Ebdo stated that they requested an explanation of Abdullah Öcalan's situation and said: "The danger on the leadership is the danger on all people."
The action ended with slogans.
'WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE SITUATION'
A march was organized by the Qamishlo People's Initiative in Qamishlo. Hundreds of citizens from Qamishlo participated in the march. During the march, calls were made for the disclosure of information regarding the situation of Abdullah Öcalan. Speaking at the march, Democratic Union Party Qamişlo CoChair Menîce Heyder said: "There was an earthquake and we are worried about the situation of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. We urgently want to hear from Leader Abdullah Öcalan, we cannot live comfortably and peacefully. We see no role for the CPT and condemn their silence. We promise that we will fight against Leader Apo on the basis of his philosophy until the end."
The march ended with the slogans "Bijî Serok Apo".
TIL HEMIS
In the Til Hemîs district, the Til Hemîs People's Council made a statement on the issue. The statement made in front of the Til Hemîs People's Council building was read by council member Belqîs Elabdullah. In its statement, the Parliament called on international organizations and human rights institutions to prevent the absolute isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and to obtain information about his situation.
