NEWS CENTER – The rotating hunger strike action launched in prisons demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and solution to the Kurdish issue" has entered its 5th day.
The rotating hunger strike action launched in prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan to demand the end of the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Öcalan, who is held in the Type F Prison on İmralı Island, and to ensure physical freedom is on its 5th day.
The action started on November 27 by PKK and PAJK prisoners within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign will continue until February 15, 2024.
November 27, the start date of the action, is the date of the PKK's "founding congress" held in Fîs Village of Amed's Licê district in 1978. February 15 is the anniversary of Öcalan being detained in Kenya in 1999 and brought to Turkey due to an international conspiracy.
The PKK Leader, who has been subjected to isolation policies in İmralı, where he has been held for 25 years, has not been allowed to meet with his family and lawyers for 32 months.
