ISTANBUL - While 3 of the 42 people detained in Istanbul were arrested, 39 people were released on condition of judicial control.
Yusuf Görücü, who was detained within the scope of two separate investigations launched in Istanbul in 2021 and 2022, including members of the Youth Council of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), former executives of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) and member of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD). 42 people were detained on November 24. Those who were detained on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing financing to a terrorist organization" were referred to the courthouse after their statements to the police.
While 39 of the 42 people were released on "judicial control condition", 3 people were arrested by the 5th Criminal Court of Peace of Istanbul Courthouse on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing financing to a terrorist organization". It was learned that those arrested would be taken to Marmara Prison.
The names of the 3 people arrested are as follows: HEDEP Youth Council member Ömer Gelenmek, Azad Barış and Şehmus Barış.
