RIHA - Stating that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is the guarantee of a permanent peace in the Middle East, HEDEP MP Ömer Öcalan said: "Our struggle will continue until the isolation is ended and Mr. Öcalan's physical freedom is achieved."
People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) Pirsûs (Suruç) and Serêkaniyê (Ceylanpınar) district organizations held their 1st Ordinary Congress. Many people attended the congress held at HEDEP Pirsus district building. A banner reading "Freedom for Mr. Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" was hung in the congress hall.
Speaking at the congress, which started with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy, DBP Party Council member İzzet Karadağ condemned the aggravated isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said: "Öcalan is the guarantee of a permanent peace in the Middle East. Let this be our self-criticism if we have not been able to break the isolation so far. Our struggle will continue until the isolation is ended and Mr. Öcalan's physical freedom is achieved."
'MR. ÖCALAN'S FREEDOM IS THE FREEDOM OF THE PEOPLE'
The 1st Ordinary Congress of HEDEP Serêkanî was also held in the district building. HEDEP MP Ferit Şenyaşar, Riha Peace Mothers Council, Riha Labor and Democracy Platform, DBP representatives as well as many people attended. Speaking at the congress, which started with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy, DBP Riha Provincial Co-chairperson Vahit Akgün said: "The situation of not hearing from Öcalan, who has been held under severe isolation conditions for 24 years, and Hamili Yıldırım, Veysi Aktaş and Ömer Hayri Konar, who have been held in İmralı, has entered its 33rd month. Mr. Öcalan and other persons' right to see their family and lawyer is systematically prevented by using 'disciplinary punishments' without a stated reason. We did not and will not accept this total isolation imposed on the people. No one can say they are free until Mr. Öcalan's physical freedom is ensured. Our struggle will continue until the isolation is lifted and Mr. Öcalan is free."
