MÊRDÎN - The objection to the release of 3 people, including a ranger, against whom an investigation was initiated on the grounds that they raped a woman in Mêrdîn, was rejected.
The objection regarding the release of ranger Yakup A. and his friends Çetin T. and Suud Ç., who were detained on the grounds that they blackmailed and systematically raped a 22-year-old woman in Mêrdîn, was rejected.
After the Derik Criminal Court of Peace released the three suspects, one of whom was ranger, the woman's lawyers objected to the Derik Criminal Court of First Instance and stated that the suspects should be tried in detention on the grounds that the crime charged against them was a catalog crime and that the suspects had a risk of obscuring evidence.
According to information received from lawyers; Derik Criminal Court of First Instance rejected the request for pre-trial detention, citing the hospital report received upon the woman's complaint regarding the incident that took place in 2021, on the grounds that the crime accused of the suspects was "abstract".
