VAN - Bedlis Emek Democracy Platform, calling for the resignation of the AKP mayor of Tatvan, protested the attack on journalist Sinan Aygül.
Bedlis Emek Democracy Platform issued a press statement regarding the attack on Journalist Sinan Aygül, the President of Bedlis Journalists' Association. Özgür Akbay, Representative of Tüm-Bel Sen Bedlis, read the statement made in front of Yaşam AVM and attended by hundreds of people.Stating that the attack was an organized attack, Akbay said, “Police officer E.K, who drew a gun against the honorable Tatvan people who rushed to help Sinan Aygül, who fell to the ground with the impact of the blows he received during the attack, abused the public power by threatening those who reacted, and clearly revealed that the incident was a planned organized attack. The attack on Sinan Aygül after the news he made about the sale of the immovable properties of the Tatvan municipality is a clear and clear indication that the media workers were directly targeted. We will never accept this attack on the media workers on the people's right to receive information."
'WE WILL NEVER BOW DOWN'
Stating that this attack has gone beyond the point of being condemned and that this situation has become systematic in the city, Akbay said: “The press workers is the social darkness. It is the projector of the journalist who illuminates the system's 'injustice, lawlessness, injustice and corruption'. We are determined to stand against any threat of attack on media workers. This attack is an attempt to attack not only Sinan Aygül himself, the press workers, but also all Tetwan people. The fact that the police officer in charge of public service pulled a gun on the people and the Tetwan municipality employee carried out a hitman activity in the middle of the street caused serious anger and reactions in Tetwan. No one can threaten the citizens who try to prevent the attack, by waving a gun and pulling a gun. There can be no power to stand against the Tetwan people, who are known for their sensitivity and honorable stance. We will never bow down.”
