ŞIRNAK - Three people from the same family, who were arrested in Fîl village of Hezex district in 1993, were sent to many prisons in 30 years. The families of the 3 prisoners said: “All 3 are ill prisoners. We have been waiting for their way for 30 years and they should be released."
While the Kurds, for whom the "security policy" is most heavily charged, are the focus of the attacks, there is hardly an individual in many Kurdish families who is not arrested, prosecuted or detained. In 1993, when village burnings and village guards were imposed, 3 members of the Susin family living in the Fîl village of Hezex district (İdil) in Şırnak were arrested and sentenced to 30 years in prison. While 3 prisoners were sent to Mardin, Van, Rize, Adıyaman, Giresun and Diyarbakır prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan in 30 years, their family members also visited many prisons in this process.
Mehmet Emin Susin was arrested when he was 32 years old. His brother's son Abdulsalam Susin was arrested when he was 22 years old, and his uncle's son Necim Susin was 24 years old, on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization". As a result of the trial, 3 prisoners were sentenced to 30 years in prison each.
During the first 3 years of their detention, 3 relatives stayed together in Type T Prison in Şırnak. Mehmet Emin Susin, one of the 3 prisoners who were later exiled to different prisons, is now being held in Giresun Espiye Type L Prison, and Abdulselam and Necim Susin in Diyarbakır High Security Prison.
The fact that 3 people from the same family are imprisoned affects the family spiritually, while also causing them financial difficulties. The families of the prisoners, who were exiled to the prisons far from the city, have not been able to see them for 5 years.
Mehmet Emin's elder brother Ramazan Susin (65) drew attention to the health conditions of his brother, nephew and cousin and said that they should be released immediately.
MEHMET EMİN SUSİN
Noting that his 62-year-old brother, Mehmet Emin Susin, is being held in Giresun Espiye Type L Prison and has suffered from many health problems due to his long-term detention, Ramazan Susin said: "My brother can no longer walk. He meets his needs with the help of his friends in prison. On weekly phone calls, they sometimes take the phone to him because he can't walk to where the phones are. He also has hypertension and diabetes. He has been in prison for 30 years and has been fighting in very harsh conditions. He has 6 months to release. We want him to be released as soon as possible."
'CHILDREN CANNOT RECOGNIZE THEIR FATHER'
Expressing that Mehmet Emin Susin has 7 children and that his children could not go to the meeting due to the circumstances, his elder brother said: "How many years has he not seen his children? If their children go to the meeting, they will not be able to recognize their father. Since the prison where he stayed is far from us, we cannot go to visit him. He can now stand up with the help of a cane. He can't do anything without a cane."
ABDULSELAM SUSIN
Pointing out that Abdulselam Susin, who is 52 years old, who is being held in Diyarbakir High Security Prison, also suffers from many health problems in prison, Ramazan Susin said: "The conditions of the prisons endanger the lives of the prisoners. My uncle's son, Necim Susin, who is being held in Diyarbakır High Security Prison, has many health problems. Necim has diabetes and blood pressure. It is very difficult to have 3 prisoners in one house. We have been fighting for 30 years. I haven't been able to go to see my brother, nephew or cousin for 5 years. I've been waiting 30 years for their release. Our eyes are tired of watching their way. We have had a hard time as a family for 30 years. Now we want them to return to their lands."
