ISTANBUL- Police, who prevented the demonstration of TIP members who wanted to protest the tent sale of Kızılay in Kadıköy, battered many people and detained them.
The members of the Workers' Party of Turkey (TIP) wanted to march to the Red Crescent building in Kadıköy in response to the Red Crescent selling the tents to AHBAP while the need for tents continued in the earthquake area. TİP members were stopped by the police on Bahariye Street.
While the police intervened harshly against TIP members, they detained many people. Members of the press were also beaten and tried to be prevented. Citizens around protested the detentions with applause.
After the intervention in the march, the police blockaded the building while the supplies to be sent to the earthquake area from the TIP building in Bahariye were loaded onto the vehicles. The police, who prevented TİP members from carrying the aid boxes, said: "The Red Crescent will only help the earthquake zone". A large number of detention vehicles were brought in front of the building. Neighborhood residents protested the police obstruction with the slogans "Government resign".

Party Assembly and provincial district administrators are among those detained in the intervention of the police are TİP VQA. At least 150 people were reportedly detained.
TİP Chairperson Erkan Baş made a statement on his Twitter account: "The government, which did not do anything for the earthquake, attacked our party members who wanted to organize a press statement about Kızılay's sale of tents. There are earthquake victims among those detained. We take note of them, we will call you to account! Release those who were detained immediately! "
It was revealed that the Red Crescent sold tents to Ahbap for 46 million TL on the 3rd day of the earthquake, and Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık argued that the sale was "moral". It turned out that the Red Crescent sells the tents needed by the Turkish Pharmacists' Association for 140 thousand TL each.
