ANKARA - Recalling the decisions of the Constitutional Court in the trial against imprisoned HDP MP Semra Güzel, the lawyer drew attention to the violation of the constitution. The court decided to continue the arrest.
The second hearing of the trial of Semra Güzel, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP, who was arrested on September 3 after some photos in the investigation file launched against her were released to the press, was held at the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court. Güzel, who lost her relatives in the Maraş which is the epicenter of earthquake, did not attend the hearing attended by many lawyers.
REQUEST TO REDUCE THE CASE
At the hearing, which started with the reading of the new documents in the file, the lawyers were promised. Recalling the decisions of the Constitutional Court (AYM) regarding HDP former Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ and MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, lawyer Senem Doğanoğlu stated that the case was drawn up in violation of legislative immunity and that it was turned into an investigation and demanded that the case be dropped.
The promised prosecution requested the dismissal of the request for the dismissal of the case. The court refused the request and continued with the hearing.
REQUEST FOR RELEASE WAS REJECTED
Stating that her client was lynched, lawyer Sinem Coşkun said, "My client has been subjected to political lynching. My client should be in society as a requirement of his profession, instead of being in prison these days when the earthquake disaster struck."
HEALING WAS DELAYED
The court, which made an interim decision, adjourned the hearing to April 28, deciding to continue the arrest of Semra Güzel, to submit the documents of the Constitutional Court applications to the court, and to make her first defense in the other hearing.
