URFA - PYD Spokesperson Sema Begdaş stated that the PYD Chair Bafil Talabani's visit to Northern and Eastern Syria was important and said it was an act of embracing the gains.
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Chair Bafil Talabani visited Northern and Eastern Syria on December 20 and met with representatives of the Autonomous Administration. Talabani also met with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Commander Mazlum Ebdi, and the Democratic Union Party (PYD) officials. During the meeting, it was stated that the attacks on Kurdish gains, national unity and the fight against ISIS were discussed. PYD Spokesperson Sema Begdaş evaluated Talabani's visit to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA).
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE VISIT
Begdaş said that the visit took place at a sensitive period when heavy attacks against Northern and Eastern Syria were being experienced, adding that Kurdish gains were in danger. "The existence of Kurds is in danger not only in Rojava, but also in Bashur Kurdistan," Begdaş said. Stating that Talabani's visit is important for this reason, Begdaş said, "For this reason, all parties and non-governmental organizations in Kurdistan should come together and join forces. This historical visit is important and created a positive atmosphere in order to unite against the attacks."
Begdaş stated that their relations with the PUK are good in all perspectives, especially in politics, military and diplomacy, and that they are working to strengthen this. Begdaş said, "Bafil Talabani knows his enemies well. He knows his enemies so well, so he takes precautions. Since the Kurdish forces now know their enemies well, they approach them accordingly. That's why his visit is very important for the upcoming days. PUK is already the party of Mam Celal Talabani. Mam Celal has always attached great importance to national unity in all four parts of Kurdistan. And Bafil is his son and he does the same.
NATIONAL UNITY
Pointing to the attacks against the gains of the Kurds, Begdaş said, "Kurds are targeted all over the world today. We saw how Kurdish artists and Kurdish women were martyred in the massacre at the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris. We saw once again that we need to be united against these massacres."
Emphasizing the need to resurrect the spirit that emerged in Kobanê, Shengal and Makhmur at the point of protecting Kurdish gains, Begdaş said, "We have seen the importance of unity in the defense of Kurdistan. Today, Kurds have the opportunity to achieve national unity. In this century, Kurds are again victims of the plans of international states. Therefore, we are pleased with Bafil Talabanin's visit."
'WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO DISINTEGRATE US'
Begdaş emphasized that the hope created by the Rojava Revolution is important in achieving gains. Begdaş said, "For this reason, we must protect these gains, protect Rojava, and act together in four parts against attacks against Rojava. Today, all Kurds must show their reaction against the attacks against Rojava. We must not let it fall apart once again. We should not allow them to disintegrate us."
Pointing out that the unity of the Kurdish parties provided psychological comfort for all Kurds, Begdaş noted that the last visit could be evaluated in this way. Begdaş said, "The visit to Rojava Kurdistan during this period, when there were major attacks, is good at the point of standing up for each other. This visit was an act of embracing the gains of the Kurds. Our people consider this a positive visit. Enemies of the Kurds do not want Kurdish forces to stand up for each other and unite. They are pursuing a policy aimed at disrupting this unity."
Begdaş continued as follows: "Our fathers, grandfathers, Sheikh Said and Qazi Mihemmed, who led the people, wanted the Kurds to be united. The people also want this visit to be more often and to continue with other Kurdish parties uniting and getting stronger."
