SIRNAK - Thousands of people gathered in Tilqebîn town of Silopi for the "March for Humanity" against the use of chemical weapons.
A rally is being held against Turkey's use of chemical weapons Tilqebîn town of Silopi district of Şırnak under the leadership of Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Peace Mothers Assembly, Federation of Legal Solidarity Associations with the Families of Detainees and Convicts (MED TUHAD-FED), , Solidarity and Culture with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), Mesopotamia Cultural Center (MKM), Migration Platform and Mesopotamia Ecology Movement. Thousands of people came together against all obstacles and attacks and marched with the slogan "Bijî berxwedana Zapê".
PEOPLE CROSSED OVER HILLS AND STREAMS
All the roads leading to the Habur Border Gate were closed by hundreds of soldiers and police before the "Humanity March Against the Use of Chemical Weapons". People including DBP Co-chairs Saliha Aydeniz and Keskin Bayındır marched towards the Tilqebîn Town Organization building. Hundreds of people who did not stop due to the barricades reached Tilqebîn crossing over the streams and hills.
'BIJÎ SEROK APO' SLOGAN
Soldiers attacked the crowd that had reached Tilqebîn with water cannons and gas bombs. However, the crowd did not disperse. The great march started with the participation of hundreds of people from different points joining the crowd here. Thousands of people marched from the fields to the Silk Road. Slogans "Bijî Serok Apo", "Bijî berxwedana Zapê", "PKK is the people, the people are here" and "Bijî berxwedana guerrilla" were chanted along the way.
After a while, the crowd which reached the Silk Road going towards the Habur Border Gate, encountered a military barricade here as well. The crowd blocked the road to traffic. The soldiers once again attacked the crowd with water cannons and gas bombs.
After blocking the road to traffic for a long time, thousands continued their march from the alleys. While the military attack continues, the crowd resists to unite as a single branch for the march.
HDP MP SHOT WITH PLASTIC BULLETS
As the military offensive continued, the crowd once again united for the march. Meanwhile, plastic bullets and gas bombs fired by the soldiers hit HDP Deputy Nuran Imir. Imir fainted after the plastic bullet hit her in the chest.
The young people resisting in the other streets of the town dance the halay shouting the slogan “Bijî Serok Apo”.
RESISTANCE IN EVERY STREET
As the military offensive continued, the resistance grew. Thousands set up barricades with trash cans in all the streets of the town. The people also responded to the gas and water cannon attack with stones.
Meanwhile, the soldiers opened fire in the air for minutes in front of the HDP building. It was learned that there were people detained.
The soldiers also attacked the wedding ceremony in the town with tear gas. Those who attended the wedding were diversely affected by the gas.
Resistance continues to grow on both sides of the Silk Road, which divides the town into two.
VIOLENCE AGAINST JOURNALISTS
Some journalists following the march were also targeted by the soldiers. The soldiers trempled on the faces and backs of the journalists they had laid on the ground. The soldiers wanted to detain the journalists they used violence against. Journalists were released after showing their presscards.
HOME RAIDS: SCORES DETAINED
The resistance, which spread to all the streets in the town, continued for hours. Afterwards, the soldiers raided many houses. The soldiers detained dozens of people, including TMMOB Mardin IKK Secretary Aydın Aslan, HDP Mersin Provincial Co-chair Hoşyar Sarıyıldız, Eğitim-Sen Mardin Branch Co-chair Mustafa Bozan, BES Mardin Branch Representative Mehmet Emin Özel, Beytocan Kırıcı, Sümeyye Kırıcı, İbrahim Kızılay and Cahit Delek.
