ŞIRNAK - It was learned that while the trees were cut down in 31 areas of the Besta region in Şırnak, the construction of new roads to expand the existing one, started.
In the provinces of Besta, Cudi, Gabar and Çiyayê Nimêja (Prayer Mountain) in the rural areas of Şırnak, trees are being cut for 'security reasons' by the rangers for the last two years. Due to the massacre carried out under the supervision of soldiers, many forested areas in the region have been destroyed so far. Acorn trees are among the trees cut down. The trees are then transported to cities such as Antep, Urfa and Maraş by the village guards.
TREES ARE BEING CUT IN 31 AREAS

The areas in question are as follows: “Girêsêvê, Baçûka, Çemê Mezin, Girêheliziyê, Şehrewan, Piştreşo, Kenîya Rengîn, Çala Fileyan, Nizarê Kuştîyan, Kenîya Kurta Dizan, Besta Warên Şeref, Kemaloga, Zirvî, Deşt Pit, Giravan , Nizarê Elî Sorkê, Nala Kitkê, Qaranîs, Cinîwer, Kenîyamîr, Rîsor, Çemê Benê, Rêrêqut, Banga, Xaşîxan, Girêqirsîn, Bindarîn, Xargirê û Belûzê.”
LOCAL PEOPLE ARE ANGRY
The deforestation that started in the villages of Dehlabî, Heştan and Zorova in the center of Şırnak continues despite the reactions of the citizens. A citizen from the village of Zorova stated that all his efforts were inconclusive and said, “When the cutting of trees was started in these region, we, as Zorova, Heştan and Dehlabi villagers, protested this and said that we do not want the trees to be cut in our region. But the military told us, 'We will cut down whether you accept it or not, not a single tree will be left in Besta this year'. They made a one-year contract with the village headmen. We wrote a petition to the Şırnak and Urfa Forest Directorates, but it was also inconclusive. They are still carrying the trees they cut last year. The majority of those who come to the region to cut trees are from the town of Sêgirkê. They are cutting the trees under the protection of the guards. 3 rangers stand guard at the head of each tractor. The guards get 200 TL a day for this. Those who protest the cutting of the trees are reported to the soldiers by Hasan Babat and Suphi Babat."
TREE CUTTING AT CUDI
On the other hand, it was learned that deforestation was started in Cudî's Deriyê Çirçiro, Çala Nêriyan, Avreşka, Xera Pîno, Duguhka, and Çalazêrê areas. It was stated that coal mines will be opened in these regions.
