Academician Nagihan Akarsel, member of Jineology Research Center and editor of Jineology magazine, was murdered as a result of an armed attack in the city of Sulamani in the Federated Kurdistan Region.
Journalist-writer Akarsel was attacked in front of her house in Sulaymaniyah at around 10:00 am. The mortal remains of Akarsel, who was determined to have died at the scene, was taken to the Sulamani Forensic Medicine Institute.
Akarsel, who has carried out many important researches on women's journalism and Jineology, has been living in Sulamani for years within the scope of Jineology studies. Akarsel was carrying out studies within the scope of a project for the establishment of the Jineology Academy in Sulaymaniyah and the establishment of the Kurdistan Women's Library.
