HAKKARİ - A citizen named Esat Çakmak, who was detained during the village raid in Yüksekova, was arrested on charges of "being a member in a terrorist organisation".
Armed clashes broke out in the military operation launched on September 18 in the Memkava, Dara, Kapport and Nebarê villages in Hakkari's Yüksekova district. After the clash, the police raided the Dara village and detained a citizen named Esat Çakmak. It was stated that Çakmak was subjected to torture during his detention and during the 3-day detention period.
Çakmak was transferred to Yüksekova Courthouse after his statement at the police station yesterday. Çakmak was referred to the Yüksekova Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for detention on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organisation" after his statement to the prosecutor's office. Çakmak, whose statement was taken at the judge's office, was arrested for the same reason.
