In the investigation opened by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Uğur, who was charged with "resisting the police" and "resisting the officer on duty", went to the Van Police Department and gave his statement. In his statement, Acar stated that the police officers tortured him and stated that a lawsuit should be filed not against him, but against the police officers who battered him.
