ISTANBUL - 2 prisoners who were tortured by the guards in Silivri Prison No. 5, lost their lives.
Human Rights Association (İHD) Istanbul Branch, shared an emergency information note with the title; “We are calling out to the Ministry of Justice! Explain What Happened in Silivri Prison No. 5!” In the emergency information note, it was stated that Serhan Yılmaz, who was tortured by the guards in Silivri Prison No. 5, and another prisoner whose name could not be learned lost their lives. In the information note, it was also stated that the remains of the prisoner named Serhan Yılmaz was taken by his family.
It was shared that a press conference will be held at the İHD Branch building in Beyoğlu at 11:00 today on the subject, and the following was recorded: “On April 6, during count in Silivri No. 5 Prison, the prisoners were battered, then subjected to torture and forced to commit suicide. The General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses denied the incident in a statement on April 9 after the information that they were detained, that they were forced to make a statement that there was no assault when they were taken to the doctor, and that 8 prisoners were taken to Silivri State Hospital.
2 PRISONERS DIED
However, it was learned that torture and ill-treatment still continued, the prisoners were prevented from meeting with their lawyers, and that one of the prisoners, Serhan Yılmaz, and another prisoner whose name could not be learned, died yesterday, and that Serhan Yılmaz's remain was taken by his family.
