NEWS CENTER - Evaluating Turkey's preparations for a new operation against the Federated Kurdistan Region using the KDP, PUK Peshmerga Commander Xazi Feysel stated that they do not want a fraternal war and said, "We see this as treason."
For a while, it has been spoken in the press of the Federated Kurdistan Region that Turkey will launch a military operation against some regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 15. According to the statements of local sources, it was stated that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) would also be used in the operation to be carried out by Turkey against the Federated Kurdistan Region. In particular, the meeting between AKP Chairperson Tayyip Erdoğan and Nechirvan Barzini at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on March 12 strengthened the allegations of the operation. In addition to Erdoğan, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Hakan Fidan, Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın and Vice President Fuat Oktay participated in the meeting. Right after the Erdoğan-Barzani meeting, on March 14, Gendarmerie General Command Communications, Electronic Information Systems (MEBS) Head Major General Engin Çırakoğlu and Şırnak Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan met in Şırnak, on the border of Federated Kurdistan.
Xazi Feysel, Commander of the Volunteer Peshmerga Units in the Makhmur region, evaluated Turkey's preparations for the operation against the Federated Kurdistan Region and the cooperation of the KDP.
‘KURDS WANT TO LIVE FREE’
Pointing out that the problems of the Kurds are increasing day by day, Feysel said, “All Kurds want to live in a free country. They want to work for their country. They want to establish the most progressive form of government, but we are now under worsening conditions. The Kurds, living in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) region, want unity and solidarity. They want all Kurds to be in dialogue and peace."
Emphasizing the policies of the KDP in the Federated Kurdistan Region, Feysel said, “The KDP is in relations with Turkey rather than the PUK and the freedom movement. The KDP does not listen to the Kurds as much as it listens to Turkey. It has taken a very different turn in the last two years. The policy of KDP is not in the interests of the Kurdish people, but in line with Turkey's wishes. Its policy is harming Kurdistan. Turkey has established approximately 65 military bases as far as Dihok, Zaxo and Hewler. By acting with Turkey, the KDP is harming the Kurdish people. It also creates problems with the PUK and does not agree on the Presidency. Instead of making an agreement with the PUK, It turned its face towards Baghdad. It wants to create the Shiite and Sunni problem by spreading the management problem among the Shiites. The KDP brings problems wherever it touches.”
'WE SHOULD SUPPORT OUR BROTHERS'
Feysel said: "After the arrest of Abdullah Öcalan and the death of Mam Celal, Mesut Barzani should have played a better role. The KDP should have acted more consciously. But the Federated Kurdistan Region is moving towards insoluble problems. According to the information reflected in the press in recent days, the KDP and Turkey prepared to attack the Kanimasiya region. As the PUK, we are on the side of the people who are against the war, and we are in favor of solving the problems with dialogue, not war. Neither Turkey can finish the Kurds nor the Kurds can finish them. This is a time for discussion and dialogue. Even if there is a war, we, as the people living in Bashur, should support our brothers, not Turkey."
'KDP SEES EVERYONE AS ENEMIES'
Reminding that the Kurds have been fighting for more than a century, Feysel continued: “We gave our lives for freedom. The PUK also took part in this struggle under the leadership of Mam Celal. With the help of all Kurdish parties and forces, we got rid of the Baath regime in the 90s. In that process, a great gain was achieved in unity. We must defend our gains for people we have lost. This is our responsibility. But our KDP brothers are ignoring this reality. It does not listen to the criticisms of the PUK and journalists. It accuses and arrests us, instead of listening to us and giving us our rights. Currently, many journalists are imprisoned in the Behdinan region. The KDP sees anyone who criticizes it as an enemy. If the KDP sees its government responsible for the country, it should take on all kinds of criticism and understand that these criticisms are made for the benefit of Bashur. But It sees those who criticize it as enemies and acts with Turkey instead.”
'WE CONSIDER THIS A BETRAYAL'
Adding to his words that a lot was lost because of the KDP, Feysel continued: “The Barzani family is responsible for all the gains that the Kurds have lost. They were defeated administratively and militarily. The people became poor. In 2017, they lost 51 percent of Kurdistan's land without firing a single bullet. KDP peshmerga withdrew from Kurdistan without firing a single bullet. Now the KDP is attempting to attack free areas together with Turkey. We are sad about that. We are never on the side of war. We have a test with war among ourselves. We have suffered greatly from this war. This is why we are against fraternal war. We are never on the side of fraternal war. The whole world is well aware of the success of the Kurdish forces against the invaders. We don't want to come face to face with KDP. We see it as treason."
'KDP SHOULD ATTACK ISIS FIRST'
Feysel stated that Turkey has carried out 8 attacks on the Makhmur Refugee Camp in recent years and continued: "Civilian citizens live in the Makhmur Camp. Although there are many ISIS members on Karaçox Mountain, they do not attack them. Kurdish institutions outside, human rights activists and other institutions in the world are trying to protect the Kurds. The Kurds need to put pressure on the KDP and prevent the KDP from doing politics on its own."
