VAN - Relatives of prisoners, who told that prisoners were left for dead in prisons, said, "Enough is enough, stop deaths in prison" addressing the authorities.
While the violations of rights in prison continue to increase, news of deaths of political prisoners comes one after another. Şervan Can Güder, who was held in Van Type F High Security Closed Prison, died under suspicious circumstances. Shortly after, 80-year-old cancer patient Abdullah Boran, who was held in Diyarbakır Type D Closed Prison the previous day, died in the hospital.
The sit-in, which started in Diyarbakir, Van and Izmir for the release of the ill prisoners and the prisoners who are not released despite serving their time continues. The mothers who are staging a sit-in at the Van Bar Association called on those responsible, and said: "Enough is enough, stop the deaths in prisons."
The mothers commented that the ill prisoners were left for dead in prison without treatment and the cause of death of these prisoners were covered up.
'HEAR THE VOICE OF THE DUNGEONS'
Aslıhan Timur, mother of Botan Timur, who is imprisoned in Van Type F Prison, stated that they struggle to prevent deaths in prisons and said, “We do not accept these deaths. If there was justice, there would be no deaths in prisons. Why did they die? Can Güder, who died suspiciously two days ago, spoke to his father the day before he died and wanted her father to go visit him. Why are we recieveing the news of the deaths of these prisoners every day? We call out to the whole world and the Minister of Justice; hear the voice of the dungeons.”
'THEY ARE KILLING THEM !'
Timur, who said that the prisoners are not dropping dead but they are killed, added: "They make up the cause of death and cover up the fact that these people are being killed. As mothers, we do not accept this situation. As the families of the prisoners, we must collaborate with them and raise our voices. Today, the body of someone else's child is coming out of prison, tomorrow my child may come out dead."
'HEAR US BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE'
Zeynep Dayan, mother of Sinan Karel in Van High Security Prison, reminded the death news from Van and Iğdır. “Those, who died in prison, are no different from my children, We are hurting. My son is ill but he is not treated. It doesn't matter we are heard after they die. We want justice. If something happens to my child tomorrow, they will say 'he had a heart attack'. They will not admit that they prevented his treatment. We do not want coffins to come out of prisons. Hear their voices before it's too late."
