ANKARA- Constitutional Court rejected the individual application of HDP MP Semra Güzel, whose parliamentary immunity has been lifted.
The Constitutional Court rejected HDP Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel's application for the annulment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) decision regarding the lifting of her parliamentary immunity.
The Constitutional Court (AYM) discussed the request for annulment of the parliamentary decision regarding the lifting of parliamentary immunity of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel. The Constitutional Court decided that the two parliamentary resolutions regarding the lifting of Güzel's immunity were “not contrary to the Constitution, the law and the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure” and that the cancellation requests were unanimously rejected.
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared two summaries about Güzel and sent them to the Parliament, and on March 1, Güzel's parliamentary immunity was lifted with the vote held in the General Assembly of the Parliament. Güzel applied to the Constitutional Court for the annulment of two separate parliamentary decisions regarding the lifting of her immunity.
