MARDIN - Those who were murdered in 1992 Nusaybin Newroz were commemorated with carnations on Pira Şehidan.
A commemoration ceremony was held in the Nusaybin district of Mardin for those who were murdered in the Newroz celebrations 1992 in Nusaybin, Cizre and Şırnak. The people that came together for the commemoration marched from a point close to the government office to the Pira Şehîdan (Martyrs Bridge). Many citizens attended the commemoration, which was attended by HDP Mardin MP Pero Dündar and HDP Party Spokesperson Ebru Günay. HDP's Dündar addressed the crowd walking up to the bridge.
CALL TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NEWROZ OF NUSAYBIN
Explaining what happened in 1992 Newroz, Dündar stated that at least 16 people were killed and the mentality that carried out the massacre is still holding office today. The massacres, arrests and detentions continue today. The attacks on Nusaybin have not stopped since that day. the "war government" in power in Turkey could not tolerate the Newroz at that time. The massacres were carried out in Şırnak, Cizre, Nusaybin and many other places. Dundar said, "The history of resistance in Newroz begins in Nusaybin so, Newroz is the history of Nusaybin. That's why we welcome Newroz every year on March 21 with the spirit of those days. Stating that they commemorate those who were massacred in Newroz, Dündar called for participation to the celebrations to be held in Nusaybin tomorrow.
After the speech, a moment of silence was held in memory of those who lost their lives, while carnations were left in the Çağ Çağ Stream, accompanied by the slogan "Biji Newroz (Long live Newroz)", in memory of those who were massacred later.
