URFA - Urfa Bar Association Language Commission hung a 6-meter banner on the Urfa Bar building, written, "Kamber Ateş How are you?"
Since it was forbidden to speak Kurdish in prisons during her visit to her son, who was imprisoned after the September 12, 1980 Coup in Diyarbakır Prison, İpek Ateş was beaten and thrown out of the prison because she spoke in Kurdish with her son. İpek Ateş later learned to say 'How are you Kamber Ateş' in Turkish. It was the only sentence she knew in Turkish. From that day on, İpek Ateş repeated the same sentence over and over to her son, because it was the only sentence she knew in Turkish. İpek Ateş lost her life 10 days ago. On the occasion of February 21 World Mother Language Day, Urfa Bar Association hung a 6-meter banner on the building, written, "How are you Kamber Ateş? to commemorate İpek Ateş as a symbol of the pressure on Kurdish Language.
