ANKARA - Being held in Afyon No 1 Type T Prison, Cumali Yıldırım told the guard harassing him that he will exercise his legal rights. The guard answered Yıldırım, "How can you have rights when there is no justice or a constitution'.
Cumali Yıldırım (26), who was arrested while he was a university student in Kırşehir and sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison for allegedly 'being a member of a terrorist organization', stated that he was threatened in Afyon No 1 Type T Prison because he resisted strip search and that his life was in danger.
Political prisoner Yıldırım called his family from prison on December 28 and told about the violations of rights. His sister Hacer Yıldırım said his brother has no life safety in prison.
'WE WILL OBLITERATE YOU'
Speaking about her conversation with her brother, Hacer Yıldırım told that her brother was subjected to ill treatment, threats and torture. Explaining that he was threatened with death by guards who said 'We will obliterate you' because her brother resisted stirp search, Yıldırım told that the guards said: "Don't you know we are the boss here. This is a house of torture."
'I HAVE NO LIFE SAFETY'
Stating that his brother has no life safety, Yıldırım said: "The guards told him that he had no legal rights because there is no justice or a constitution. My brother told me that he heard the guards speaking about 'obliterating him'. He asked us to file a criminal complaint at the prosecutor's office."
Calling on the people for awareness, Yıldırım said they also applied to the Human's Rights Association (İHD).
