ŞIRNAK - Pointing out that, with the aggravated isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the Kurdish question is deepening, Özgüneş said: "If Öcalan is freed, the Kurdish question and the problems of Turkey will be resolved. There is no other way."
The hunger strike launched on 27 November 2020 in prisons to end the aggravated isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violations of rights in prisons continues on its 186th day. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP Hasan Özgüneş, who said that the war policies in the region will come to an end once the isolation on PKK Leader Öcalan is lifted, said: "Isolation should be lifted and prisons should be emptied."
THE SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS
Underlining that the hunger strike continues for more than 6 months now, Özgüneş said: "Prisoners are resisting in prisons. Democrats, labourers and revolutionaries, those who have conscience, political prisoners and forces of democracy must raise their voice agianst this isolation."
Underlining that the isolation is related to the Kurdish problem, Özgüneş said that the Kurdish problem has deepened with the aggravation of the isolation. Emphasizing that the solution to the Kurdish problem is only possible by ending the isolation, Özgüneş said, “If the isolation is lifted and Mr. Öcalan is freed, the war will end. The Kurdish problem and the problems experienced by Turkey will also be solved."
IF ÖCALAN IS FREE...
Noting that a democratic environment will be ensured by implementing Öcalan's suggestions for Turkey and the Middle East, Özgüneş said: “Law and democracy will only be possible in Turkey by removing the isolation on Öcalan. The press will be free, the problems experienced at the borders will ve resolved. Freedoms will finally come to this country. The country will finally become prosperous. The isolation on Öcalan is the deadlock in the Kurdish question. Economy and democracy will take a hit with the escalation of war both in Turkey and outside of Turkey."
KURDISH QUESTION MUST BE RESOLVED
Underlining that the only solution to the crisis in the country is to end the isolation, Özgüneş said, “No one can handle the current situation anymore. There is only one solution; The isolation must be lifted, the prisons must be emptied. Kurdish problem must be solved and a correct ground of law and democracy must be established in the country. There is no other way around this."
