HEWLER - Aiming to achieve control over 100 kilometers of area in Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn, the Turkish Armed Forces advanced only 8 kilometers in 6 days. It was noted that FSA members were brought to the operation area where the TAF was having a hard time.
The operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) against the Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap regions on the border of the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 23 continues. There are violent clashes between the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and the TSK , which landed with helicopters after the bombardment of warplanes in the operation area. It was stated that there were intense clashes after the Skorsky type helicopter that have taken a hit, landed in the Qela Bedewê region of Zap yesterday.
It was claimed that 4 soldiers lost their lives and many soldiers were wounded in the air attack on the Turkish Armed Forces base in the Behdînan region carried out by the HPG.
TSK AIMS TO ADVANCE 100 KILOMETERS
No official statement has been made about the target of the operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces, however, according to the information obtained from local sources, the operation was carried out in the region between Uludere in Şırnak and Çukurca in Hakkari, and they aim to advance 100 kilometers into the PKK-active Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn regions to the Qandil border. Local sources stated that the Turkish Armed Forces has been deployed at 4 separate points in an area of only 8 kilometers along the Metîna line, but that there have been constant clashes with HPG at these points. No information has been obtained about how many points the soldiers have settled in the Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap regions.
THE REAL GOAL IS THE FEDERATED AREA
Deployed to 40 different bases, old and newly established with the support of the KDP, TAF soldiers aim to gain control over the areas where the PKK dominates. The peshmerga sources we interviewed said that the main purpose of Turkey, which aims to maintain a dominance of 100 kilometers, is to establish dominance in the whole of the Federated Kurdistan Region.
LOCAL PEOPLE: 70 BODIES WERE TAKEN AWAY
In the three regions where the conflict has intensified, it was reported that many soldiers were lost and wounded, even if the TSK did not make a statement. Local sources in the operation area stated that the losses of the TAF were much higher than the announced figures. The people of the region said that they have witnessed the bodies of at least 60-70 soldiers and many wounded people being taken to hospitals established in Geliyê Zaxo, Bamernê Logistics and Airport military bases.
5 HELICOPTERS WERE DAMAGED
According to the information obtained from the peshmerge sources in the region, 5 Skorsky type helicopters have been hit while landing so far. According to the first information obtained from the region, in the air attack on the military base in Kanîmasî district of Duhok yesterday morning, 4 soldiers lost their lives, many soldiers and were injured.
It was stated that the 9 soldiers deployed on the first day of the operation in the Zap's Qela Bedewê region were claimed to have been shot by an Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SİHA).
FSA JOINED THE OPERATION
It was alleged that after the Garê operation, in which the TAF had to withdraw, about a thousand specially trained members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) were brought to the military base in Geliyê Zaxo. According to the information obtained, FSA members who were specially trained by SADAT, who established its first base in Duhok city of Federated Kurdistan in 2017, are paid a monthly salary of 3 thousand dollars. In addition, in January 2021, it is claimed that Turkey deployed more than 3,000 FSA members from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Chechnya at their bases in Kanîmasî, Amediye, Bamernê, Qesrê and Sidekan to "fight the PKK".
HUGE CHUNCKS OF LANDS WERE DAMAGED
Speaking about the operation the previous day, the director of Kanîmasî Town in Duhok's Amediye district, Serbest Sabri, said that the TAF has only been able to settle in Kestê and Dirarê hills until now. Stating that the region was constantly bombed from air and land, Sabri said that the bombardment caused damage to a thousand decares of land in the Berwarî Bala region, and agriculture and animal husbandry could not be done. Sabri stated that the vineyards and orchards were damaged in the fires caused by the bombardment and added that the people were furious.
It was reported that the TAF bombed the Nehlê region of Amediye district on April 27, the vineyards and orchards were damaged, and the animals died. It was stated that the people reacted to the institutions in the region, the security forces, the Turkish Armed Forces and the bombings.
