'YOU WILL SEE THE STUNNING FACTS'

In the preface of the book, Demirtaş's sentences were: "I am writing these lines from Edirne F Type High Security Prison, where I have been detained since November 4, 2016, and continue to be detained unlawfully despite the ECHR's decision. I am presenting you with a booklet prepared by my esteemed attorneys. In this booklet, you will find striking facts about the allegations against me in the indictment of the case known as the Kobane case of 6-8 October, as well as my legal situation."

The first hearing of the trial will be held on April 26, 2021, at the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court. As always, we will tell the truths with my friends at this hearing. I hope you will follow the hearing and wish you a good and healthy day with your loved ones."

In the content of the booklet, prominent details about the main case formed by the merger of 31 summaries, the ECHR decision and the indictment regarding the 6-8 October Kobanê case were included.

THE SPEECH DEMİRTAŞ IS ACCUSED OF

In the booklet, it was stated that the Kobanê indictment, which was accepted on January 7, 2021, six years and three months after the incident, was based on three main points.

These were listed as Demirtaş's speech on September 30, 2014, open and confidential witness statements and Twitter posts. Recalling Demirtaş's words; "This is not a plea. This is not gratitude. Let's join in the historical resistance together: let us do the historical resistance together so that we have the opportunity to create a historical alliance and a historical unity" was allegedly said in line with the instructions of the organization. In the booklet, which includes the section where these words are included in the statement in question; aimed at drawing attention to the government of the Republic of Turkey, the international community and foreign states, and stated, "Even just this fact alone refutes the statements of the open and secret witness."

WITNESS STATEMENTS

In the booklet, which stated that the said statements were never the subject of an investigation, it was underlined that this speech was not included in the accusations regarding the 7-8 October incidents in the indictment of the case against Demirtaş, which is still ongoing at the Ankara 19th High Criminal Court.
It was stated that Demirtaş's claim that he said the four sentences in question, quoted from his speech, was based on open and confidential witness statements. It was also noted that these witness statements were taken after Demirtaş was arrested. In the booklet, which refers to the contradictions, predictions and interpretations of the witnesses' statements, it was reminded that Demirtaş made a public visit to Kobanê on September 20, 2004, within the knowladge of the Ministry of Interior and the official permission of the Urfa Governorship and Suruç District Governorship.

CHRONOLOGICAL NARRATIVE

In the booklet, a chronology is also included to better see the main reasons why Demirtaş was kept in prison. The chronology, starts on March 7, 2015, with the words of President and AKP Chairperson Tayyip Erdogan, "Give 400 MPs and let this matter be resolved in peace," and it ends with Demirtaş being sentenced to three years and six months in prison at the maximum limit. Demirtaş was sent to jail for a speech ne never mentioned Erdoğan, but the reason he was arrested was 'insulting the president'.
