URFA - Parents of Feridun Demir wants to see their son one more time before they die. Mother Ayşe and father Veysi Demir have not seen their son for 15 years. Feridun Demir is behind bars for the last 28 years
74-year-old Veysi and Ayşe Demir couple, living in Urfa's Suruç district, want to see their son Feridun Demir, who has been imprisoned for 28 years. The couple have not been able to see their son due to their advanced age and chronic illnesses. Stating that their son was arrested back in 1993 with the accusation of 'being a member of a terrorist organization', mother Demir told that her son was 17 years old when he was arrested and he was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. Underlining that her son was tortured under custody, Demir said she last saw her son 15 years ago. Demir said: "His hair turned grey. We haven't seen each other for ages."
'I MISSED MY SON A LOT'
Pointing out that her and her husband couldn't go to the prison to see their son because of their illnesses and advanced age, mother Demir said: "I missed my son a lot. I cry everytime I think about him. And so does my husband. All my children were so young when he was arrested. Now they are all married. We are too old. We can't go to the prison. He is held in a prison so far away from our home. We want him to be transferred to a closer prison. They are punishing us too. Isn't it our right to see our son? He has three more years in prison. All we want is to see our son before we die."
