ANKARA - A report was prepared about the social media post of HDP Van Deputy Muazzez Orhan regarding the acquittal of the police who killed Kemal Kurkut.
A report was prepared against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van Deputy Muazzez Orhan for sharing a post about Kemal Kurkut, a university student who was killed by the police back in 2017 during Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakır.
Orhan, the subject of the report submitted to the Parliament and his post on his twetter account on November 17, 2020, is as follows: “The police who murdered #Kemal Kurkut was acquitted for lack of evidence. How is a photo of him shooting Kurkut not an evidence? When the person who is killed is Kurdish, murder is not a crime."

Kemal Kurkut, a student of Malatya İnönü University, Faculty of Fine Arts, was murdered by the police at the Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakır in 2017. In the 12th hearing of the case, the perpetrator police officer Y.Ş was acquitted by the court board, citing, 'no definitive and convincing evidence was obtained'.
