ANKARA - At the Planning and Budget Commission meeting planned by the Ministry of Justice, HEDEP MPs condemned the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The isolation protest against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan left its mark on the 2024 budget discussions of the Ministry of Justice, which continue in the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Committee.
MPs of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), who are members of the commission, attended the meeting with signs saying "Isolation is a crime against humanity" and "Isolation should end for peace." HEDEP MPs condemned the isolation imposed on Öcalan, who has been held in the Type F High Security Closed Prison on İmralı Island for 25 years and has been prevented from receiving news from him for 32 months.
In addition to banners in their hands, the MPs also carried photographs of former HDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş, Figen Yüksekdağ and other detained Kurdish politicians.
