Investigation against our reporter who made the news of DEDAŞ

VAN - An investigation was launched against journalist Cengiz Özbasar, who reported on the work of DEDAŞ workers, on the allegation of "inciting the people to hatred and hostility or insulting them".
 
Dicle Elektrik Dağıtım Anonim Şirketi (DEDAS) filed a criminal complaint against Mesopotamya Agency (MA) Correspondent Cengiz Özbasar to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office because of the news titled "Workers told about DEDAŞ: They are illegal and fine the subscribers" published on June 9, 2022; thereupon, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Özbasar in accordance with Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which regulates the act of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or humiliating".
 
ÖZBASAR GAVE STATEMENT
 
Journalist Özbasar was summoned to testify as part of the investigation. Özbasar, who made a statement with his lawyer Ebru Demirtepe at the 2 Nisan Police Station in Wan, stated that he interviewed the dismissed workers after working at DEDAŞ for many years, and reported on the statements of the workers, There is no slander in the news. I do not accept the accusation.”
