VAN - Calling for a rally to be held in Silopi against the use of chemical weapons, HDP MP Muazzez Orhan Işık asked to pave the way for an investigation in the region.

A march will be held on November 6 in the Silopi district of Şırnak against the use of chemical weapons against the Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region of Turkey with the slogan of "Human march against chemical weapons". Many non-governmental organisations and political parties will participate in the march from the surrounding cities. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van MP Muazzez Orhan and Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Mustafa Avcı, who was replaced by a trustee, called for participation in the rally.

'WE CAN'T BE SILENT IN TH FACE OF THESE CRIMES'

Emphasizing that the use of chemicals is a crime against humanity and war, Orhan said: "This situation is a crime against humanity according to all conventions. We cannot remain silent about this crime against humanity. If there are such findings, everyone, who says that they are human, should be sensitive and not remain silent. International institutions should not be a party to this crime. It is necessary to conduct an urgent investigation in the region for this purpose."

CALL TO THE RALLY

Calling all parties for peace to the march in Silopi, Orhan said: "We call on all peoples, everyone who is in favor of democracy, humanity, life and peace against war to support this rally. The government denies using chemical weapons. People are detained and arrested? A scientist said that the allegations should be investigated by independent committees, but she was hastily detained and arrested. If there is no such thing, why are those who call for humanity detained and arrested and tried to be silenced?"

Pointing out that the government wants to cover up the chemical agenda, Orhan said: "Those who defend the truth are wanted to be silenced. All those who criticize the wrong policies of the government and want to raise their voice against the war are wanted to be silenced. What needs to be done is to make room for independent committees. In addition, the government should support and demand these investigations; therefore, we are defending life to end this war due to the concerns experienced. We call on all sensitive segments to 'defend life against death'."

THE CHEMICAL WEAPONS MUST BE INVESTIGATED

Stating that they wanted to draw attention to the use of chemical weapons with the rally, Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Mustafa Avcı, who was replaced by a trustee said: "Using chemical weapons is a crime according to the agreements signed by international states. We will also appeal to them; they should abide by the decisions they take. The use of chemical weapons should not be ignored for personal interests, some capital companies and states."

Pointing to the rejection of the use of chemical weapons, Avcı said: "With this rally, the chemical weapons must be investigated, we will pave the way for investigations and we will ask independent committees to conduct investigations. When we watch the footage, we are really under a great influence that chemical weapons are being used. Therefore, before an independent committee goes there and conducts investigations, we get to the real thing. It is impossible for us to believe the rhetoric that chemical weapons are not used without announcing what is happening. Once again, everyone, who says that they are human, should raise their voice and be sensitive to the use of chemical weapons."
