İSTANBUL - The Peace Mothers Assembly, which stated that the fire reported to be on the island of İmralı, worries them, demanded to have PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan met with his lawyers as soon as possible.

The Peace Mothers Assembly declared a press statement in İstanbul to draw attention to the situation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan due to the fire that was reported to have occured in İmralı. Perihan Akbulut read the press statement on behalf of Peace Mothers.

Akbulut stated that these concerns increased even more, because they could not get secure information after the fire. Akbulut also emphasized that Öcalan is not an ordinary person and he is especially an important figure for the Kurds, and therefore, it is necessary to organize a meeting of him and his lawyers in order to relieve the growing concerns. "Authorized institutions should make an urgent statement regarding this situation" said Akbulut.

'THE MEDIA IS LIYING'

Akbulut ended the statement as follow: “No Kurdish will stay at home comfortably as long as news from Öcalan is received. I call out to all the Kurds; Stand up. Everyone should raise their voice until they get a positive response regarding Öcalan's situation. Their media is lying. So we repeat again; Öcalan’s lawyers should be able to visit İmralı and bring an answer to the Kurds."
