İSTANBUL- The police officers who beat him and his family during the house raid to the house of HDP's former Esenyurt District Co-Chair Edip Karçik,  saying " we came to the worng adress"  Explaining the events, Karçik stated that he would file a criminal complaint.

Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) former Co-Chiar of Esenyurt District, Edip Karçik's house was raided by the police yesterday evening. During the raid, Karçik and some family members, who asked whether there was a public prosecutor's permit to search for a house, were laid down on the ground and beaten up by the police. Karçik and his relatives who were injured from various parts of their body as a result of the police assault and they were taken to the hospital while the police officers left the house saying they were in the "wrong address".

'THE DECISION OF SEARCH WARRANT WAS NOT ISSUED'

Explaining what happened during the house raid to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA), Karçik stated that his brother's house, who had a prostate surgery, was raided by the police in the evening hours. Stating that the police battered him by hitting him on the ground and did not remember how long this situation lasted, Karçik noted that his nephew, Mikail Karçik and his aunt, were also laid on the ground and beaten. Explaining that his brother, who had a prostate surgery, was also laid face down on the ground, Karçik said that no decision of search warrant in the house was issued to us."

Karçik stated that the police, who remained in the house for about an hour and a half, later on said that they were looking for a person named Muhammed after the identity check was mad and finally that they came to the wrong adress.

'START LEGAL ACTION'

HDP İstanbul Press Comission declared a written statement regarding this issue. It was stated: "We ask Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, who is responsible for the life safety of each individual in this country: who gives the order to the police officers affiliated to you, the wrong or the right address? Is not it a legal right of every citizen not to let police inside the house without a search warrant? It shouldn't be hard to guess what is being done at the 'right' addresses if there is such a cruel practice at the 'wrong' address. Act in parallel with your responsibilities and start a legal action against those officers of yours who beat up the citizens so much so that people get hospitalized."
